Venue

The GECON 2013  Conference will take place at the Paraninfo Building  of the University of Zaragoza,  located at Plaza Pariso, 4, in the very city center.   A map with the location of the Paraninfo Building can be consulted here.  The building has been restored, both in the outside and inside. Some of the old Lecture Rooms have been transformed into a new and completely equipped Conference Halls, maintaining their old structure of the XIX Century.

The GECON conference will take place in the room Pilar Sinués, an old surgery theater of the Ancient Faculty of Medecine and Sciences in Zaragoza, now called Paraninfo. You will find posters inside the main building, guiding you the way to these rooms.

Why Zaragoza is a perfect Venue for GECON 2013 is shown here. You can enjoy the sketchbook of Zaragoza in the video here.

How to arrive in Zaragoza

  1. Flight to Barcelona or Madrid + High speed train AVE to Zaragoza.

  • In Madrid-Barajas you can
    •  take a taxi to Atocha Train Station (30 min, around €25)
    • Use the commuter train service which departs from Terminal 4: Renfe Commuter Train service.
    • Use the EMT public bus express service, which is avaliable 24 hours. Travel time is about 40 minutes depending on traffic. You can buy your ticket from the driver (€5) but they can accept cash only. Additional information is available at the  EMT Bus Express website.
    • UTake the Underground  (Metro)from the airport  (Barajas) tp the ´Nuevos Ministerios´metro station, then take the commuter trainf from Nuevos Ministerios to Atocha Train Station  (follow the signs ´Cercanias´). Visit the  Metro Madrid website   for additional information.

  1. Low-Cost flight from some European cities: Brussels (Charleroi), London (Stansted), Milan (bergamo) and Paris (Beauvais). Ryanair offers a few direct flights to Zaragoza.  These are non-connecting flights, so they are probably not convenient if you come from outside Europe. Zaragoza airport is located 10 km. The most convenient option is a taxi that will cost around €25-30 and take around 20 minutes to the city center. Alternatively, the cheapest option is the airport bus stopping at Pase de María Agustín 7, in the city centre (45 minutes ride). The bus cot €1.70 and runs every 30 minutes Mon-Sat and every hour on Sundays and holidays. You can buy your ticket from the driver.
